A Kavi Sammelan (Poetry Evening) was held at the Ganga Action Parivar camp in Kumbh Mela, Allahabad, with Chief guest of the Kavi Sammelan was the Director of the Chandrashekhar Azad Museum of Allahabad, Dr. Rajesh Purohit. The focus of the evening was on environmental protection and the importance of our sacred rivers.

Speaking at the opening of the evening, Pujya Swamiji spoke about the beauty and importance of literacy – how it provides a light in the darkness, and how through literacy the country moves forward. Furthermore, in determining how a society moves forward, poets have always contributed, and thus Pujya Swamiji was happy to welcome all the poets to the banks of Ganga and Yamuna at the Sangam. Pujya Swamiji spoke about how through the words of the poets, Mother Ganga could be restored and protected, once again flowing free and clean.
