During the Maha Kumbha Mela in Allahabad in 2001, a time in which tens of millions of pilgrims from across the world gathered together to take a sacred bath in the waters of Mother Ganga, Pujya Swamiji led frequent processions and clean-up programs in the name of the protection of Mother Ganga. Further, He organized Sangam Aarti each evening – a sacred prayer ceremony on the banks of the Sangam (confluence) of the Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati Rivers – which was broadcast via loudspeaker throughout the entire Mela grounds. Each evening following the lighting ceremony, Pujya Swamiji delivered inspiring messages about the importance of Mother Ganga and how to keep her clean and green. Further, Pujya Swamiji arranged to bring H.H. the Dalai Lama and H.H. Sri Shankaracharyaji of Kanchi Kaam Koti Peetham together to perform the sangam aarti together, showing a beautiful union of Hinduism and Buddhism and the great support of the leaders of both religions.
