Pujya Swamiji has initiated Ganga Aarti at numerous locations along Her banks. The reasons for this are several-fold. The first is to instill a deep sense of reverence, awe and devotion toward Mother Ganga by those living along her banks. The second reason is more practical: no one will go to the toilet or dump trash in a temple. If the banks of Ganga can become temples – symbolically if not literally – by the performance of evening aarti, it will immediately dissuade people from using the same area as a toilet or trash can during the day. So far, Pujya Swamiji has personally inspired and initiated Ganga Aarti in Badrinath, Gangotri, Rudra Prayag, Uttarkashi, Allahabad, Kanpur, Varanasi and Jwalapur in addition to the world-famous Ganga Aarti each evening in Rishikesh, as well as Ganga Aartis in Spain, Africa and the USA.
