Members of GAP met with the Respected DM of Haridwar, Ms. Nidhi Pandey, to share that their volunteers and doctors from Project Hope had spent the last few days serving the heavily flood affected villages of Laksar and Haridwar and there was much that could be done to alleviate the problems faced by the villagers due to the floods. Respected Ms. Nidhi Pandeyji commended the efforts of Project Hope Team and personally endorsed the Shudhu Water Purification Tablets- that was being provided by GAP in collaboration with the Wockhardt Foundation. She said that the distribution of these tablets would definitely help in preventing waterborne illnesses.
During the meeting GAP also urged the Respected DM to initiate the cities green plantation drive soon before the monsoon ends. They assured her that with Pujya Swamiji’s blessings the entire Project Hope, GAP and Parmarth team are with the administration to serve in making their environment cleaner and greener. They agreed that by working together as one team with this one theme we can start to amend the vast environmental neglect, unsustainable activities and mass commercial tourism that is threatening the very identity of the state’s – and the nation’s- most revered and beloved city-Haridwar- so that it can be a sustainable model of Green Tourism and Green Pilgrimage.
