On September 27th, 2013 the Ganga Action Parivar sewaks (Volunteers) planted trees at three locations in Rishikesh – Triveni Ghat, Aastha Path & Premvani Ashram.
Almost 200 Kalpavriksh, Banyan, Shareefa, Lichi plants were planted. “We are committed to the pledge to protect the environment by cleaning and greening our environment, planting trees and raising awareness,” says Ganga Parivar Sevak. Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji, founder of GAP, inspires people that planting trees is the simplest and easiest way to combat climate change. Additionally tree plantations and cultivation of forests with various fruit trees can be beneficial and can involve the community as key stakeholders in the clean and green revolution.
During the monsoon season the team has spread this message by undertaking plantations in Kunoa, Veerpur,Tehri, and IDPL areas as well as holding clean-up drives in each.
