Arail, Allahabad – The day before the last major snan of the Kumbha Mela, the largest gathering of humanity, an evening was organized and hosted by Ganga Action Parivar (GAP) with music and poetry dedicated to the welfare and service of humanity. Todays special guests were famous Bollywood actor, Vivek Oberoi with his family, Hon’ble Home Minster Maharasthra, Shri Kripa Shankar Singh, former CM of Goa Shri Digambar Kamat, and Chairman of the All-India Anti-Terrorist Front Shri Maninderjeet Singh Bitta. The event had many talented Hindu and Muslim poets share their inspiring poetry. Although unable to make the event physically, Respected Kalbe Sadhiq Sahib and Respected Imam Umer Iliasji sent their support and blessings for this enchanting evening and the larger message of harmony and unity.
H.H. Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswati, Founder of Ganga Action Parivar and President of Parmarth Niketan emphasized: “It is not merely one evening of dedication to humanity, but every moment of every day should be in the service of God and humanity. It is not enough to merely worship the Creator but we must also worship and honor His Creation.”
Today Vivek Oberoi arrived at the Ganga Action Parivar camp today, just in time for the function. He has come to visit his Guru Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji. Vivek has brought his mother and his aunts to the Kumbha.
Vivek Oberoi said: “Pujya Swami Chidanandji is an Action Saint. He could have just lived in the jungles doing meditation but he is here serving and serving. In the tsunami areas he was the great guide and leader and inspiration for all of the relief work, for Mansarovar yatras, for so many amazing programs and projects, he is giving his life. Now, Pujya Swamiji’s 6Ts initiative as part of to save Ganga is so wonderful, so necessary and so noble. Through the 6Ts, he is working in the area of Tree plantation, Trash cleanup, Taps for drinking water, Toilets, Tracks to keep railways clean and Tigers to protect their natural habitat. I am proud and honored to serve with my Guru. I did not come to ask anything of Mother Ganga but rather to give, to do seva for Ganga, under Pujya Swamiji’s guidance and leadership.”
Pujya Swami Chidanandji has been leading Ganga Action Parivar in a widescale Green Kumbha Initiative including regular trash clean ups on the banks of the Sangam. Pujya Swamiji said, “Today the time has come that we must all join hands and bathe Mother Ganga before we take a bath in Her waters. She gives and gives to all with no hesitation, no discrimination, no vacation and no expectation. Now we must give back to Her, to protect and preserve Her precious and pristine waters.”
