Film Star Vivek Oberoi Pledges for Ganga
Vivek Oberoi, his mother and aunts went for Sangam Snan at the Kumbha Mela, led by Pujya Swamiji. Vivek has been staying at the Ganga Action Parivar camp since yesterday and will depart tomorrow morning for Lucknow. He has come to visit his Guru Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji.
Vivek Oberoi said: “Pujya Swami Chidanandji is an Action Saint. He could have just lived in the jungles doing meditation but he is here serving and serving. In the tsunami areas he was the great guide and leader and inspiration for all of the relief work, for Mansarovar yatras, for so many amazing programs and projects, he is giving his life. Now, Pujya Swamiji’s 6Ts initiative as part of to save Ganga is so wonderful, so necessary and so noble. Through the 6Ts, he is working in the area of Tree plantation, Trash cleanup, Taps for drinking water, Toilets, Tracks to keep railways clean and Tigers to protect their natural habitat. I am proud and honored to serve with my Guru. I did not come to ask anything of Mother Ganga but rather to give, to do seva for Ganga, under Pujya Swamiji’s guidance and leadership.”
Today, Pujya Swamiji took Vivek, his family and other devotees for a sacred snan in the Sangam. Many prayers and mantras were chanted and also Vivek gave a special Sankalp , in Hindi and one in English, about protecting Mother Ganga.
Vivek pledged: “We pledge, in the waters of Mother Ganga, the greatest spiritual energy in the universe, at the confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati, we pledge as children of the Great Mother Ganga, that we will dedicate a part of our lives to the service of all the great rivers. Let us come forward and let us serve these beautiful mothers, these divine rivers that have given us so much.”
Vivek also participated in a Sangam Clean up program.
Pujya Swami Chidanandji always leads widescale clean up programs at the sangam on the major bathing days and on many occasions in between.
Said Pujya Swami Chidanand Sarswatiji: “Just as we bathe in the holy waters to purify ourselves, the day has now come that we need to give a bath to Mother Ganga by cleaning the trash and waste out of Her holy waters.”
