Event: International Girl Child Day

International Girl Child Day
Oct
11

This year the International Girl Child Day coincidently was during the auspicious week of Navratri, a Hindu festival of nine days dedicated to the divine feminine in its many forms, such as the Goddess of Wealth, Lakshmiji, the Goddess of Knowledge, Saraswatiji, the Goddess of Shakti, Durgaji as well as the divine shakti in the form of Mother Earth, Mother Ganga, Gau Mata (Mother Cow) and the Girl Child.

Pujya Swamiji shared that while our culture has always taught us to revere and respect shakti and prakriti (the divine feminine and Mother Nature) as harbingers of good fortune, prosperity, health, happiness and strength the unfortunate situation today is that in much of the nation having a girl child is seen as a misfortune and in thus the girl child ratio is quickly deteriorating. Pujya Swamiji says that what is needed today is innovative spirituality and inspires all to pledge to protect and preserve the 3G’s: Gau (Cow), Ganga, Gauri (Girls).

He says while our nation progresses towards innovative technology moving onto 3G, 4G mobile phones let us remember that for our future to truly progress and our nation to remain mobile, for our heritage and true wealth to remain mobile we must also adopt this 3G’s programme. On the occasion Pujya Swamiji also inspired and invited Respected Army General Major General Ajay Kumar Pant to take the 3G pledge to truly protect the future of Mother India.

He urged the popular Indian TV serial Laptaganj’s artists and crew, that were present for a week long shoot in Parmarth, whose story was based on a village that has fallen through the cracks and has gone missing in the records of the society, that in order to ensure that we don’t go missing and our future isn’t lost we must ensure that the trees don’t go missing (lapta) and our sacred mountains don’t become bald and naked (ganja). He also inspires all to pledge that the first action they can take to protect the 3G’s and ensure that our future isn’t lost is to plant and care for trees and work actively to bring back organic culture. He says that it is not enough to say Jai Jai Gange and Har Har Gange we must also give rise to Jaivik Gange and Herbal Gange, inspiring organic and herbal culture along the banks of Mother Ganga. He says let us celebrate our holidays as green holidays and bring innovation in our celebrations planting and inspiring others to plant and grow trees on their anniversaries, birthdays and on every occasions.
