In celebration of Makar Sankranti, Ganga Action Parivar sevaks and pilgrims conducted a clean-up of the banks of Sangam in Allahabad. As on this auspicious day and the official starting day of the Kumbha Mela, millions of people come to the Sangam from all over India to bathe in the Sangam, where the waters of Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati merge. But first, under the inspiration and guidance of Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji, sevaks and pilgrims who had traveled to the Kumbha Mela from all over the world gathered together before their auspicious bath to first give a bath of Ganga – to rid Her banks of plastic, polythene, leftover puja materials and other trash.
