Members of Ganga Action Parivar met with Pujya Swamiji in Delhi to discuss the proceedings of the action plan for the River Yamuna and National River Ganga on the evening of World Environment Day. A delegation of Ganga Action Parivar was scheduled to meet the next evening with the CEO of the Delhi Jal Board, Ms. Debashree Mukherjee, about the status of the pollution abatement plan for Yamunaji in Delhi. They discussed the key points and questions for this meeting. A film on the pollution in Yamuna was also screened by Dr. KD Guptaji and the recommendations from the previous national workshop were reviewed by other key experts present.
This was followed by a meeting between Pujya Swamiji, Shri Nirankar Saxenaji, Senior Director of FICCI, Dr. S Radhakrishnanji, Director DI2TM DRDO, and other members of DRDO and FICCI to discuss the progress of the bio-toilets and water-taps project. Pujya Swamiji encouraged the DRDO scientists and experts to plan a meeting soon with IIT scientists and experts to discuss ways in which the smartest minds of India can dedicate their time, talent and technology for the welfare of the nation together, especially in addressing important issues such as the restoration of our rivers and sanitation for all. They were joined by famous actor and singer Shri Manoj Tiwariji, who had come to receive blessings from Pujya Swamiji before making his way back to Mumbai. Shri Manojji was eager to help raise awareness about bio-digester toilets in all of the villages of India, especially Bihar and Uttar Pradesh. He later discussed with Pujya Swamiji detailed plans of a mass awareness campaign that he would like to lead to bring more people to be part of the Ganga Parivar. He also explained in reverence his time with Pujya Swamiji in Rishikesh, during Pujya Bhaishriji’s Green Katha last month, saying that a “Gangs of Ganga” Bhakt CD (a play on Shri Tiwariji’s recent work on the “Gangs of Wasseypur” film) would soon be launched at Parmarth and would kick-start the outreach campaign.
