In 2008, India’s Council on Climate Change announced the need for a National Action Plan on Climate Change (NAPCC). In that regard, a two day National Conference on Ecological Sustainability and Climate Change was organized by Bhartiyam Science Society (BSS) on the 28-29th October in Lucknow, which was attended and supported by Ganga Action, to lay-out suggestions for future actions needed to effectively monitor Climate Change in the Ganga River Basin as an essential part of the government’s NAPCC.

The following seven thematic areas for drawing the action plan were discussed and developed during the conference. The main goal of the conference was to support and encourage the National Council on Climate Change to pursue this vital endeavor with an emphasis on Climate Change in the Ganga River Basin.
