Sadhviji Welcomes the King of Bali to the Banks of Holy Maa Ganga

31 OCTOBER 2019, RISHIKESH:  With great ceremony and blessings, Dr. Arya Wedakarna, the King of Bali and the custodian of the Hindu faith in Indonesia, was welcomed by Pujya Sadhvi Bhagawati Saraswati to Parmarth Niketan and the banks of Holy Maa Ganga. Dr. Wedakarna was joined by his beautiful wife, Devi Wedakarna, Vani Shastryyil, also from Indonesia, Maneesh Tripathiji from Singapore and many other friends and family from across India and around the world to offer prayers of love and devotion to Mother Ganga.

His evening began with a visit to the magnificent padmasana – the holy symbol to the Hindus of Indonesia and the only Balinese temple on the banks of Mother Ganga – for a beautiful puja, and was followed by participation in the world-famous Ganga Aarti ceremony, where he was presented with a traditional Radraksha sapling symbolizing commitment to the conservation, preservation and protection of the environment.

Following the Aarti, Dr. Wedakarna and his group joined Sadhviji and the King was presented with a copy of Her new book, “Come Home to Yourself,” and was invited to join the International Yoga Festival from 1-7 March 2020 at Parmarth Niketan.  He also had fruitful discussions with Ganga Nandini of the Ganga Action Parivar (GAP) about the plight of Mother Ganga, the work of the Ganga Action Parivar and Pujya Swamiji’s tireless efforts as Founder of GAP to restore and revitalize this most-sacred river. The passionate and detailed discussions set the intention to work together across faiths for water conservation between India and Indonesia.
