Times of India – 27th February, 2013

LUCKNOW: On the eve of the last big snan at Maha Kumbh many pledged support to save the Ganga through the campaign spearheaded by Swami Chidanand Saraswati of the Ganga Action Parivar and Parmarth Niketan Ashram.

The list of those supporting the cause included Kripa Shankar Singh, home minister Maharashtra, Digambar Kamat, former chief minister of Goa, cinestar Vivek Oberoi and his family among others.

Although unable to make the event physically, clerics Maulana Kalbe Sadiq and Maulana Umer Iliasi sent a message of their support and blessings for this enchanting evening and the larger message of harmony and unity. Addressing visitors on the occasion, Swami Chidanand said, “Today, time has come to join hands and cleanse Mother Ganga before we take a bath in her waters. She gives to all with no hesitation, no discrimination, no vacation and no expectation. Now we must pay back and protect and preserve her precious and pristine waters.”

Impressed with the initiative undertaken by Ganga action parivar, actor Vivek Oberoi said: “Swamiji is an Action Saint. He could have just lived in the jungles doing meditation but he is here and serving. His initiative of 6Ts-planting trees, cleaning trash, providing taps for drinking water, constructing toilets and tracks and to save tigers in their natural habitat-is noble and necessary to save the earth.”
