Farewell to Plastic. Farewell to Pollution. Convocation Ceremony
Of all the myriad causes of pollution and waste that currently plague the world, one of the most significant is ignorance to the problem and awareness of the behaviors and perceptions that contribute to that ignorance. HH Pujya Swamiji recognizes these facts, and works tirelessly as the founder of the Ganga Action Parivar (GAP) and Co-Founder of the Global Interfaith WASH Alliance – both of which were initiated specifically to deal with the challenges of sanitation environmental protection, preservation and conservation – to enlighten young and old, and to enlist them as eco-ambassadors to affect change in their neighborhoods and across the country.
In line with that, HH Pujya Swami Chidanand Saraswatiji – as the Chief Guest of a beautiful Convocation Ceremony at the Mahatma Jyotiba Phule Rohilkhand University, Bareilly – addressed graduates with a message of environmental and national, calling on the now-former students to work with their colleges and universities to “adopt” towns and villages to care for them and to guide them along a new path of sustainability and cleanliness.
Pujya Swamiji stated, “As you graduate today, be inspired to serve your nation and the world. As you say farewell to university life and go out in the world, let us also say farewell to single use plastic and pollution. Let us pledge to be guided by the example of Mahatma Jyotiba Phule to advocate for cleanliness and truth and to serve to empower and educate everyone regardless of their caste, colour, creed, gender, race, religion or region. Just as the Sun and Mother Ganga gives and gives and gives so to we must learn to serve, serve and serve with no hesitation, no expectation, no discrimination and no vacation.”
